• Understand the role of the finance function, the organisation and the financial environment in which it operates. Assessing alternative sources of finance to meet organizational finance requirements and to be able to determine the cost of borrowing
• Demonstrate an ability to understand and advise on working capital techniques
• Demonstrate the ability to evaluate alternative investment decisions
• Evaluate the performance of an organization from both a financial and non-financial perspective
• Appraise merger and acquisitions decisions including the calculation of the value of a business
• Understand the nature of dividend decision, alternative policies that companies can adopt and their significance to investors and alternatives to cash dividends
• Explain the foundations to portfolio theory and CAPM, understanding risk and risk diversification using portfolio investment.
• Demonstrate an ability to understand and advise on personal financial management including lifecycle, risk management, debt, savings, investments and retirement planning. Including an understanding of regulation in financial services market
