On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

As a result of this module, assuming that the student: 1) attends all lectures, diligently taking notes, and 2) completes all assigned readings, studying the concepts in those readings, and 3) completes all assigned work, giving full effort to that work, then it is reasonable to assume that by the end of this module the student will:

1) feel confident in her/his knowledge and understanding of how the relationships between personal minds and social-cultural phenomena have been approached by anthropologists over the past one hundred years or so.

2) will be able to critically assess these different traditions, including common sense notions of ‘human nature’ at large in European and North American societies.

3) will be able to successfully approach novel problems with the critical tools developed in this course.
