Following on from EC101A, this module introduces students to some of the other core issues that affect the behaviour of economic agents. Topics to be analysed include: production; production costs; profit maximization; perfect competition; monopoly; oligopoly; monopolistic competition; government intervention; externalities; public goods.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Outline the conditions required for economic agents to make their optimal choices given the resources at their disposal. Illustrate how the optimal choices of economic agents are affected by changes in their resources or in the prices and constraints that they face. Explain the rationale that induces economic agents to amend their behaviour in response to changing circumstances. Discuss the differences between various economic concepts. Determine how different market structures affect market outcomes. Illustrate how market failure can occur and how market efficiency can be achieved. Discuss how asymmetric and imperfect information can affect market outcomes.
