• Explain and give relevant examples of the research methodologies suitable for early childhood education (birth to six years);
• Conduct a literary review of a chosen topic in early childhood care and education;
• Examine and evaluate data collection methods – e. g. questionnaires, images, reflective journals in research in early childhood settings with particular emphasis on creative methodologies suitable for accessing the voices and perspectives of babies and young children;
• Demonstrate understanding of the ethical implications of conducting action research with and about young children;
• Interrogate action research as a mechanism for supporting transformative practice in early childhood education, and reflect upon their own role as a potential change agent through their educational practice.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): This module will be assessed through a range of work which can include: Reflective journal, Student portfolio, Observation tasks, Resource file, Policy audit, Presentation, Research paper, Curriculum development, Children’s work portfolio, etc.
