DICE
DICE involve students actively in group exercises gaining first-hand experience of methodologies and resources; Introduction, theory and definitions of DICE, key concepts, rationale for DICE; links with Primary curriculum; images and perceptions; Exploring methodologies (e.g. brainstorming, ranking, use of photographs, enquiry approach) using a thematic approach – rights, equality, justice; Teaching about localities – a global perspective; Resources for DICE – experiencing and appraising packs and teaching materials; The Global School - wider issues for schools and classrooms.
Educational Disadvantage
The course will examine issues, causes and results of poverty and disadvantage. National educational initiatives introduced to tackle educational disadvantage will be presented. School organization and planning critical to schools in areas designated disadvantaged will be investigated. Methods of linking with parents will be explored.
