This module will introduce students to methods of reading, analysing, and contextualising poetry at university level. The module will introduce students to formal and thematic elements that need to be considered when approaching the poetic text (rhythm, form, poetic terminology, national/canonical traditions). Students will also examine the issues of periodisation, canon formation, and different poetic traditions. |
