The first part of the module addresses economic issues at an aggregate level. Emphasis is placed on the measurement of living standards, economic growth, inflation and unemployment. Topics covered include the causes and consequences of fluctuations in economic activity, the role of monetary and fiscal policy. The second part provides an introduction to the subject matter of modern Finance. Topics include investment decisions; risk and return; how firms are financed; derivative securities and risk management; the nature and evolution of financial markets.
