• Recognise features of the 'theatre of the absurd' and consequently define what the term 'theatre of the absurd' means.
• Identify key themes and characteristics of a selected play and examine how they fit into the genre of the 'theatre of the absurd'.
• Analyse key scenes in group discussion, supporting observations with examples from the text.
• Respond to an essay question on the selected play displaying insight and the ability to discuss problematic issues, supporting comments with examples from the text.

• 12 hours of lectures, class presentations and evaluations, supplemented by private study.
