	Overview
	Second Semester Thursdays:4.00pm to 6.00pm. The aims of this module are to: 1. Enable the student to understand and appreciate the critical role that statistical science can play in research; 2. Stimulate an inherent interest in statistical thinking; 3. Develop a base for further exploration of other statistical methods. The module will be run in the second semester in the Geography Computer Room from 4-6pm on Thursdays and will be taught by Fionnuala Ni Mhordha.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Recognise and explain the basic terms of statistics; Represent data in appropriate graphical form Calculate the measures of central tendency, dispersion and position Manipulate and analyse data using a software package Decide whether to accept or reject their null hypothesis Carry out correlation testing
