• Summarise in broad terms political, historical, societal and cultural developments in the German-speaking countries since 1945.
• Describe in some detail some of the main themes and debates of this period.
• Interpret and explain in English key German terms introduced in the module.
• Distil knowledge gained in a large traditional lecture format through appropriate note-taking and directed reading.
• Write responses to exam questions, making convincing arguments in a clear and structured manner.
