	Twenty-first Century German-language Narratives of Migration and Belonging This module brings together film and literature to explore different aspects of migration, from the German experience of expulsion at the end of World War II, to the fate of �guest workers� and asylum seekers in unified Germany, and the contemporary refugee crisis. 	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Summarise in broad terms the effects of migration on individual and national identity and belonging, using German case studies; Analyse cultural representations of migration through close reading and contextualisation; Plan, research, and deliver an oral presentation (online or in person), using appropriate visual aids where necessary; Evaluate critically secondary literature.

Attendance for this module is monitored regularly. If attendance falls below 70% of session hours, the mark will be capped at 35% for this module. This module condition will not be applied to repeat examinations. Absence owing to medical or other compelling reasons is not penalised. The reason must be established in writing prior to, or immediately (i.e. not more than two working days) after the missed class and evidence provided (normally such evidence would be a Medical Certificate).
Penalties: Late submission of assessed course work or examination materials will result in a reduction of the original grade by 5% (5 marks) per day. Assessed course work or examination materials will normally have to be submitted electronically through Turnitin. Late submission of work owing to medical or other compelling reasons is not penalised. The reason must be established in writing prior to, or immediately (i.e. not more than two working days) after the relevant submission deadline and evidence provided (normally such evidence would be a Medical Certificate).

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes Continuous Assessment marks are carried forward to the Autumn. Contact course Coordinator early in July for repeat course essay topics.

	Pre-Requisites
	Since substantial parts of this module will be delivered in German and parts of the Continuous Assessment will also test German language skills, an advanced knowledge of German is required.
