• Analyse and employ advanced theories of translation.
• Distinguish the linguistic and stylistic peculiarities of a variety of English-language literary texts.
• Interpret complex English texts and reproduce their content to a high level in German, using sophisticated vocabulary and reflecting a high level of grammatical and syntactical correctness.
• Modify the German translation where fitting to ensure that it reads coherently and reflects appropriately the style of the original English text.

• 12 weekly seminars of 60 mins. duration. This course consists of 12 hours of workshop-style language work, for which preparation and participation are required.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Compensation not possible.
• Penalties: Late submission of assessed course work or examination materials will result in a reduction of the original grade by 5% (5 marks) per day. Assessed course work or examination materials will normally have to be submitted electronically through Turnitin. Late submission of work owing to medical or other compelling reasons is not penalised. The reason must be established in writing prior to, or immediately (i.e. not more than two working days) after the relevant submission deadline and evidence provided (normally such evidence would be a Medical Certificate).
