Leisure activities and sport are not only expanding global businesses, they are aspects of our everyday landscapes and lives. This module will introduce geographical concepts of scale including, global, national, regional, rural, urban, home and bodies. Exploring the relationships between sport, leisure, place, space, landscapes, environments, and embodiments the module will investigate the constitution of sportscapes and leisure landscapes. The module will consider the scope of sportscapes and leisure landscapes encouraging students to consider critically geographies of sport and leisure activities, and the power relations that form these geographies. Lecture sessions will involve discussions, activities and group work. Students will be encouraged to engage with new concepts using their experiences, understandings and perceptions of sport and leisure activities.
