• Identify the geographical processes at work in the visited (Irish or overseas) locations.
• Practice the design of effective field data recording techniques.
• Collect and record data on specific topics in field based situations.
• Analyse the geographical processes at work in Ireland using collected field data, observations and literature review.
• Recount and report on research findings about specific topics related to field based projects.

• Preparatory lectures/workshops, workshops and practical research sessions during a week-long intensive field course.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): 15%: Activities carried out ahead of, and during, the Field Study week 15%: Oral Presentation(s) during the Field Study week 70%: Final report (4,000-5,000) relating to work done during the Field Study week to be submitted on a specified date before the end of the lecturing term. Field Study diary material can be included as part of this.
