Credits: 5
Semester: 1
Quota: 140
Department: GEOGRAPHY

Overview Overview

This module explores the geographies of sex, sexualities and genders. It does so in a way that focuses on everyday lives of those within the Global North and specifically Ireland. The emphasis of the module is on the creation of gendered and sexualized spaces, and as such a key focus is heterosexuality and masculinity. The first part of the module introduces key theoretical concepts in an accessible way, often through the use of adverts and your experiences. The second part of the module takes key sites and current issues to examine the creation of gendered and sexualized spaces such as home, work, and shopping centres.
