	Overview
	From the eve of the French Revolution up to the unification of the modern countries of Italy and Germany (1860 -69), this module spans a period of great upheaval and violence across Europe. It was also an era of extraordinary cultural and scientific achievement, when industrialisation took hold (starting in England) and long-distance travel and trade was opened up to more people. The module looks at events and processes whose impact extended beyond state, national and cultural borders across the continent of Europe over the century 1770 to 1870.

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes For autumn or external resit, the module attendance condition still applies. A student must attend a minimum of 50% of the module lectures. If this condition is not met the module result is capped at a maximum of 35%. The essay/project component only may be submitted. There will be no re-submission of other continuous assessment components. Marks received during the semester in respect of in-class tests, presentations etc., will be carried over. Essays/projects for autumn supplemental must be submitted by 1 August and will be capped at 40%. Is Supplemental Continuous Assessment registration permitted?
