The module will consider the complex debate surrounding the Holy Roman Empire and then attempt to tackle more pragmatic questions of its origins, evolution, constitutional structure, religious and ethnic diversity, social development and cultural heritage. In doing so, participants will be encouraged to participate actively in a series of in-class discussions, role-plays, panel discussions on historical documents and oral reports.
