This foundation module provides an assessment of early medieval Irish culture and society. While providing a broad introduction to Ireland’s early cultural history, emphasis is placed, through a series of case studies, on the social and cultural heritage of some of our most important ecclesiastical and secular sites. Visits to these sites is combined with insight into the early medieval texts and stories, and the archaeological and historical material, relating to these important complexes and their attendant landscapes.
