The aim of this module is to develop a critical understanding of gender in relation to development processes and to familiarise participants with a range of related debates as well as conceptual and planning approaches. During this module, learners will develop knowledge and understanding of gender theory and concepts, and its application to the wider organisation of society and everyday lived experience. They will gain insight into gender and development, including understanding of critical theoretical perspectives and the concrete, gendered effects of development processes and gain an understanding of and ability to critique different approaches to gender and development, with reference to contemporary theory and their own experience.
