It will profile the national institutional framework for regulation and supervision of financial markets and services and will trace the evolution of this framework in response to national, European and international developments and crises. It will identify the role of the global financial crisis and the EU sovereign debt crisis in precipitating EU institutional reform, and will identify the relevance of these changes for the framework of regulation and supervision in Ireland. It will also identify and analyse recent EU legislative developments which are relevant to the provision of retail financial services in Ireland.
