	A broadcaster must be aware of the legal framework in which broadcasting operates. This module will deal with areas such as copyright, libel, as well as statutory instruments such as the Broadcasting Act. It will provide students with a practical working knowledge of the relevant legislation, as well as exploring more speculative issues arising from the regulation of the broadcast media.

	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Recognise the legal contexts of media industries and practices Consider and discuss the implications of media law for media production practices Identify the broad legislative trends impacting on the future of media industries Integrate understanding of legal concerns into their professional practice
