This module will introduce students to the principles of managing innovation, focusing in particular on how innovation is managed in entrepreneurial and global settings, the management of innovation systems and the dynamics of technological innovation. Innovation is a key priority for companies operating in dynamic and fast changing business environments characterised by the emergence of new competitors and blurring boundaries between different actors. Against this background, this introductory module provides students with a clear understanding of the multifaceted nature of innovation and how innovation impacts businesses and society. Students are introduced to the origins and to the systemic nature of innovation as well as to practices, tools, and frameworks that help companies to manage innovation and to develop strategies to make use of the increased interconnectivity of different actors.
