Module Objective: To examine how the brain influence various aspects of behaviour, the mechanisms by which this may occur and the consequences of brain dysfunction and disease.
Module Content: The biological basis of rudimentary and complex issues such as stress, sleep, learning and memory. Synaptic transmission and psychopharmacology. Functional neuroanatomy, including functions of the frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital cortical lobes. Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Modern neuroscientific techniques.
