Module Content:
The concept of 'abnormality' in psychology; key theoretical paradigms in understanding abnormal thought and behaviour; the social context of mental health and illness; the classification of psychological disorders including psychosis, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and personality disorders; current evidence regarding aetiology, prevention and treatment of common disorders; the lived experience of mental illness.

Module Objective:
To introduce students to the key conceptual approaches to abnormal psychology and current evidence regarding the aetiology, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders.
