• Explain and evaluate the major theories and concepts in the sociology of reproduction
• Evaluate the empirical trends and patterns identified by sociologists exploring human reproduction from macro and micro sociological perspectives,including reference to issues such as the history of world population, perspectives on the fertility transition and social change, and the global politics of reproduction
• Apply the theory and evidence within the sociology of reproduction to topics such as reproductive behaviour including technologies of conception and birth control, childbirth and infant feeding and the social construction of the reproductive self across the life course.
• Develop an independent and critical perspective on the sociological analyses of human reproduction and its major questions
