This module will consider the short story form as it has evolved in Latin America from the time of the European conquest and colonization of the region up to the present day. The course will consider indigenous myths, impressions of first Spanish settlers, and how these representations have continued to influence Latin America’s rich short story tradition. It will also consider how more recent short fictions have aimed to engage with contemporary political and social issues facing the region. |
