Credits: 5
Semester: 1

Overview Overview

Variation exists in Spanish across space and time. This is a Taught MA module which offers a theoretical approach to linguistic variation across time, regions, social groups, and speaker types. Additionally, it introduces the student to linguistic and statistical analyses of linguistic variation, particularly as it applies to Spanish data from a variety of speakers (monolingual speakers, second language learners, heritage speakers, and other types of bilinguals). This module will contribute to the improvement of the students’ Spanish language and analytical skills by helping them understand how the language varies.
