This course requires 3 additional subjects Mature students - Information: It is essential that you also apply to the CAO. Applications must be received before 1 February 2015. Candidates are shortlisted for interview on the basis of an entrance test. Mature student applicants who have a disabilityIf you have a disability or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), and require examination support for the written tests, please submit supporting documentation by 1 March to the Access Office. Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications for alternative examination accommodation after this deadline. |

How to Apply We welcome over 2,000 undergraduate students to our University each year: School-leavers who have completed the Leaving Certificate. ¿Applicants are required to have a minimum of six subjects in the Irish Leaving Certificate with two Higher Level papers at C3 and four Ordinary or Higher Level papers at grade D3. Mature students returning to education EU/EFTA students who want to study in Ireland International students from countries outside the EU FETAC or BTEC major award recipients. The application process to our undergraduate degree programmes depends on the category to which you belong. Please visit "How to Apply" for further details. Career options:
Social Science can provide a valuable academic foundation for many vocations and occupations; it is particularly associated with policy analysis and the social professions of social work, community work and youth work.
Graduates are also to be found in a wide range of other careers including management and public administration, the NGO sector, journalism, the media and social research.
If you wish to become a professional social worker, you must undertake the National Qualification in Social Work (the accrediting body is CORÚ. Most social workers qualify by completing a Bachelor of Social Science first and, later on, a Masters in Social Work. Many of our graduates follow that route.
