This course introduces students to fixed income securities (bond instruments). It looks at the valuation and properties of fixed income securities as well as the trading strategies pursued by market participants. This course also illustrates some of the uses of Excel for bond markets. Topics covered include bond’s price volatility, bond returns, term structure of interest rates and immunization strategies.

This module will use real world financial data from the Bloomberg database accessed via terminals. The students will be introduced to the Bloomberg Database and will be expected to complete the Bloomberg Markets Concepts (BMC) certificate during the course of the module.
