(iii) Introduction to crystal field theory (octahedral, tetrahedral and square planar). Jahn Teller distortion. Common types of electronic transition in d-block metal complexes d-d (use of Orgel diagrams), MLCT, LMCT. Magnetism of d-block metal ions in coordination complexes.
