	Overview
	Topics appropriate to research interests of departmental staff members. Students join one of the research groups in Chemistry and complete a research project under the guidance of the group supervisor. Students submit a written report and make an oral presentation describing their research findings. The research project can take two forms: (i) experimental based project with a small literature review or (ii) a literature review based project. The nature of the research project is assigned at the discretion of the project supervisor.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Complete a literature search and a literature review on the topic of the research project. Assess, recognize and understand the issues of safety regulation in relation to the use of chemicals in laboratory experiments. Analyse and interpret experimental results and draw reasonable conclusions. Prepare a report on the research findings. Prepare and give a presentation on the research findings.
