• Complete a literature search and a literature review on the topic of the research project.
• Assess, recognise and understand the issues of safety regulation in relation to the use of chemicals in laboratory experiments.
• Perform experiments safely. Employ proper techniques when handling chemicals.
• Analyse and interpret experimental results.
• Understand how to perform accurate measurements using modern chemical instrumentation, perform calculations, and draw reasonable conclusions.
• Prepare a report on the research findings.
• Prepare and give a presentation on the research findings.

• Supervised research in one of the departmental research groups.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): By written thesis and oral presentation of results in a Departmental seminar.

• Pass standard: 40%
