This module will allow students to develop their interests in contemporary Chinese language, linguistics, literary and or cultural studies through developing an independent research project in collaboration with a group. Students will be introduced to certain key research themes and topics and will be able to choose an area that is of particular interest to them.
Topics include the following:
• Media/Film Studies or Communications
• Intercultural Studies
• National Identities
• Chinese business
• Chinese philosophy
• Chinese history
• Chinese language teaching and learning
Participants should note that this module will have a substantial language-based element, whereby they will work on further developing their skills in reading, spoken production, spoken interaction, listening, and writing in Mandarin Chinese.
