• Carry out an advanced level research project to demonstrate physical principles
• Keep an accurate and detailed record of experimental work
• Discuss research progress and issues arising with academic and technical members of staff and their peers
• Analyse and critically assess experimental data and possible sources of error
• Work as a member of a team to define and achieve goals in an effective way
• Write a high-quality and timely technical report detailing the background and results of their work
• Deliver an oral presentation to communicate the most important aspects of their work to staff and fellow students

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Laboratory Notebook 5%, Progress Report 5%, Oral project Presentation 5%, Laboratory Performance 25%, Final Report 60%

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Subject to satisfactory laboratory performance
• Penalties: Late submissions not accepted.

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? No
