British politics and society were transformed in the 1980s. At the helm in Downing Street was Margaret Thatcher, elected three times as Prime Minister and the first woman to hold this position. This module examines the contradictions and complexities of Thatcher’s Britain. It explores the economic changes that underpinned the politics of the period and their repercussions across the society.
