	Overview
	The aim of the module is to develop a critical understanding of gender, identity and inclusion in the context of development processes and practices and everyday lived experience. The module will explore the theoretical debates on gender and identity and critique the gendered experience of development. The tools and policies to address diversity and inclusion will be examined, and their successes and failures unpacked, with reference to contemporary theory and to students own experience.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Discuss the various interpretations of gender, gender theory and concepts, women and masculinity studies and their application to the wider organisation of society and everyday lived experience. Explain the theories and concepts of identity formation, inclusion and exclusion. Critique the gendered effects of development policies and practices. Examine the various approaches to inclusion of marginalised groups in development.
