	This module examines the manner in which fundamental rights are protected under Irish Law. It considers the interaction between the Irish Constitution, the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and various international law instruments in the sphere of fundamental rights protection.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Display an in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of fundamental rights protection in Ireland; Analyse, debate and criticise the means by which fundamental rights are protected under Irish law; Display an in-depth knowledge of the relationship between national law, EU law, and international law in the sphere of fundamental rights; Interpret a given factual matrix in light of fundamental rights principles, summarise the main legal issues involved, and construct an opinion as to the legal position.
