	Overview
	Students will undertake the research and writing of a dissertation (20,000 words including footnotes) on a topic of their choice. Students will be assigned a supervisor who will guide them on the research and writing process. Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Complete an appropriate research proposal. Identify a focussed research question and a clear line of argument in response to that question. Critically analyse sources, including relevant academic literature, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Write coherently and persuasively, using appropriate scholarly conventions.
