Overview Overview

This module will build on 'Introduction to Sustainable Enterprise' module and aims to (1) allow students commence the building of their personal sustainability practice as professionals / managers, (2) facilitate understanding how this practice relates to other keys of the business and organisations they currently work or will work for in the future, and (3) ensure that the businesses they work for (and society and the natural environment) will benefit from this practice. This module will introduce contemporary Climate Action Policy & Environmental Governance relating these to the challenges and opportunities they present to enterprises in Ireland. The reason for doing this is to ensure that graduates of the programme are familiar with the evolving aspects environmental governance and the requirements this places on business and will explain how these frameworks are developed in the practice of managers responsible for key business functions. Recent scholarly inquiry has demonstrated an interested in the emergence of the sustainability and CSR profession. The emergence of this new professional field and its implications for the sustainability agenda in Irish business will be addressed. The introductory module also discussed strategy and strategic leadership. This module allows participants demonstrate an understanding of how these concepts are 'put to work' in real business scenarios by exposing students to the challenges of responsible organisational development and change.
