Introduction to the practical application of psychological research to everyday ‘real-world’ settings and the challenges of applied/engaged interdisciplinary work. The module will focus, in particular, on: (1) promotion and prevention programmes/initiatives in the field of mental health and well-being; (2) the design and implementation of innovation in the activities of researchers and practitioners in a variety of domains; and (3) evaluation research. Several projects - based on innovative interventions and initiatives undertaken by staff and doctoral students in the Department of Psychology’s Centre for Mental Health and Community Research, the Assisting Living and Learning Institute and Maynooth University Social Sciences institute - will provide the context for this module.
