This course requires 2 additional subjects Mature students - Information: Apply to the CAO before 1st February. Admission is based on your application and/or interview. Mature student applicants who have a disability If you have a disability or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), and require examination support for the written tests, please submit supporting documentation by 1 March to the Access Office. Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications for alternative examination accommodation after this deadline. |

Applicants are required to have a minimum of six subjects in the Irish Leaving Certificate with two Higher Level papers at C3 and four Ordinary or Higher Level papers at grade D3. OC3 or HD3 Mathematics also required. |

How to Apply We welcome over 2,000 undergraduate students to our University each year: School-leavers who have completed the Leaving Certificate. żApplicants are required to have a minimum of six subjects in the Irish Leaving Certificate with two Higher Level papers at C3 and four Ordinary or Higher Level papers at grade D3. Mature students returning to education EU/EFTA students who want to study in Ireland International students from countries outside the EU FETAC or BTEC major award recipients. The application process to our undergraduate degree programmes depends on the category to which you belong. Please visit "How to Apply" for further details. You will choose your study route after admission to the University in September. Depending on which route you choose (Law and Business LWB, or Law and Accounting LWA) you will take equal parts (30 credits) Law and Business or Law and Accounting in all three years of your degree.
Law as a specialised degree – BCL (Law and Business): Law is taken jointly with Business for the three years of the programme. A wide range of business and legal subjects are studied.
You may apply to take a work placement year in a law firm after 2nd year and graduate after four years. Previous placements have included Matheson, A&L Goodbody, McDowell Purcell, McCann Fitzgerald, and The Medical Council. Read more about the work placement scheme on our website.
Students who successfully complete the 1st year of the programme have the option of transferring into the 2nd year of the LLB programme. Duration: 3 years or 4 years (with Erasmus / study abroad option or with work placement)

Career options:
Graduates of the BCL (Law and Business) programme will be in a position to immediately enter professional legal training, either by sitting the Law Society FE1 examinations for entry to the solicitors’ profession, or by sitting the King’s Inns Barrister-at- Law Degree entrance examinations for entry to the barristers’ profession.
The written and oral skills that law graduates acquire are also in demand in the public and private sectors in Ireland, as well as in European institutions. The study of business skills as part of the Law and Business degree opens up additional career options, including enterprise, management, administration, the media, and consultancy, and will be of particular value to those wishing to pursue careers in major law firms.
